Job Summary

The PACE Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients throughout the routine visit and helping with health management. The PACE Medical Assistant works collaboratively with other health care members to provide comprehensive, quality and accessible health care services to patients under the supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, PACE Center Manager, Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse Team Leader.

Essential Job Functions

• Works closely with medical providers to provide comprehensive health care to patients
• Prepares for patient visit in advance to ensure that all labs, diagnostics, hospital/ER discharge summary etc. are ready and available for the visit.
• Assists in the provision of clinical services such as, but not limited to, taking vital signs; performing EKG, immunizations, skin tests, vision and hearing tests, and blood draws; and collects and prepares specimens as necessary
• Assists with clinical data measures and entry into the electronic health record
• Assists medical providers in updating health maintenance checklist and patient’s health record in Electronic Medical Record system and confirms purpose of visit.
• Prepares exam rooms before and after each patient, including restocking of exam rooms, operatory, and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists providers during physical examinations, treatments, and procedures as requested
• Assists in discharging the patient at the completion of the office visit including going over the printed office visit summary; aids in the completion of medication, laboratory, and radiology orders; provides patient education information ordered by the provider; answers any final logistical questions the patient may have.
• Perform other duties as directed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification indicating completion of program from an approved school or hospital
• CPR Certification (including BLS Child, Infant, Adult)
• Minimum one year back office experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PACE experience
• Bilingual Armenian and English

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Knowledge of and ability to perform the full range of professional medical assistant duties
• Ability to perform vitals, assist patients in exam rooms, stock exam room
• Good knowledge of general back office procedures, such as taking vitals, performing venipuncture, administering immunizations, etc.
• Effective verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, clinicians and other staff
• Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional manner, including people of all social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and within the constraints of government funded programs
• Excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction
• Experience/familiarity with computers, business e-mail, communication systems and internet search capabilities and proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel

Pay

• $24.00 - $27.00 Depending on Experience
