  • Overview

    Now hiring a Part Time Teen Peer Provider who will meet and greet teen patients according to teen phone line procedures, via telephone and in person.  Perform a variety of clerical functions, including compiling data for reports and preparing standard forms. Provide education and counseling on topics such as family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, AIDS and birth control.


    • Operate teen phone line: make appointments, answer questions, give information about reproductive health
    • Communicate to patients regarding the length of their visit and update as to when they will be seen
    • Enter accurate data in the computer according to Office of Family Planning and Wellness Foundation guidelines
    • Ensure medical records release form is obtained and completed accurately
    • Provide contraceptive education and information to teens
    • Inform patients of procedures at the clinic
    • Provide pregnancy test results.  Discuss pregnancy options and make appropriate referrals
    • Provide pre and post HIV counseling for teens at increased risk for HIV
    • Provide information on AIDS (definition and symptoms), transmission, risk reduction behaviors, and purpose and significance of HIV antibody testing
    • Assist Teen Wellness Program Coordinator with pamphlets, film library, and other clerical duties
    • Notify teens of abnormal results and ensure they follow through with care
    • Prepare teens for examinations, take vital signs, height & weight, and assist providers with the examinations
    • Instruct and counsel patients in their health care concerns according to the provider's instructions


    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school graduate or student
    • CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Current CPR certification

    Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

    • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional manner
    • Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds and within the constraints of government funded programs
    • Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staff
    • Ability to handle confidential material and information in a professional manner
    • Good general office, organizational, customer service, and telephone skills
    • Familiar with operation of telephone, fax and copier equipment
    • Ability to perform a high volume of detail work with speed and accuracy
    • Demonstrated dependability and adherence to all safety regulations
    • Emergency response capabilities for possible crisis situations

    Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

    • Experience/familiarity with Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records systems, NextGen preferred
    • Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products, and business e-mail communication systems
